Paper is a dried, compressed mat of plant fibers. It is made by pressing together cellulose fibers extracted from plants and trees so they knit and fuse to form a strong, solid and flexible mat. Most paper pulp is made from trees, mainly fast-growing (2 feet per year), evergreen conifers. It can also be made from bamboo, cotton, hemp, jute, and a wide range of other plant materials.

How sustainable is paper?

Paper is made out of wood, a natural and renewable material. Paper is also recyclable and can be reused 6 or 7 times before the paper fibers breakdown too much to be used to create new paper. Forest certification, FSC, and PEFC ensures wood comes from well-managed forests. Responsible wood, pulp, and paper production ensures healthy growing forests.

What makes paper a great alternative to plastic?

  • Natural product - From responsibly managed forests, the use of paper is good for the planet.
  • Environmentally sustainable - A great alternative to traditional plastic.
  • 100% biodegradable & compostable - Contrary to plastic that does not go away
The natural degrading process can take anywhere between 2 to 6 weeks in conditions with moisture, oxygen, and sunlight. As such, the paper will easily decompose on a home compost.
